TANZFORUM
Over 4 days, the TANZFORUM festival hosts over 25 hours workshops, performances, public talks and open-floor evenings with guest DJs.
While the workshops enable a physical immersion in a movement language, the evening events emphasise performative works and create moments of exchange that offer the audience a deeper insight into the world of the artists.
As part of the festival, 6 local, regional and international artists offer a journey of discovery into their working methods: Through formats that are open to all, participants and visitors can experience those both by watching and participating.
These interactive formats and the meeting of different artistic perspectives stimulate exchange between the audiences and invite participants and visitors to rediscover dance and performance from a new angle.
With a focus on interdisciplinarity and a programme based on participatory formats, the festival creates an alternative approach to dance and performance art.
For professional dancers and dance makers, the festival provides a platform for experimentation, networking and professionalisation. It creates the opportunity to come into direct contact with the invited artists, to engage with contemporary approaches to choreography and performance and to expand their local and international network.
ARTISTS
WORKSHOPS
Every day, from 10am in the morning and 2pm in the afternoon, there will be workshops focussing on artistic creation. They are open to everyone and offer a physical immersion in the movement language and choreographic methods of the artists invited to the festival.
Evenings
After the workshops, performances and exchange formats will take place in the evening, focussing on specific works or approaches to choreography. These formats are organised in collaboration with you are warmly invited and are moderated by Tessa Theissen and Angelika Waniek, among others.
Open Floors
Every day after the performances, various Leipzig DJs will provide the musical framework for open-floor sessions, where all visitors are invited to let off steam on the dance floor!

The festival takes place in the RESIDENZ - Schauspiel Leipzig:
Spinnereistraße 7, 04179 Leipzig
Hall 18 (staircase E)
Tram line 32 (stop S-Bahnhof Plagwitz)
Bus line 60 (bus stop S-Bahnhof Plagwitz)
Tram line 15 & 8 (Lindenau Bushof stop), keep left, go under the railway tracks, turn left into Spinnereistraße, after 50 metres turn left into the Baumwollspinnerei premises.
Due to the special spatial situation of the building, the festival venue is unfortunately not barrier-free (see here). If you require barrier-free access to the festival venue, please contact us in advance: festival@tanzplattform-leipzig.de.
timetable
The festival takes place daily from 03 to 06 October. The morning workshops start at 10 am. The afternoon workshops start at 2 pm. The evening events start at 7 or 8 pm.
prices & registration
All information on prices and registration for the workshops can be found on the registration registration page .
No registration is required for the evening events.
Helpers
A team of 10 helpers will be created for the festival. Helpers participate in the organisation and implementation of the festival and receive a discount on the price of the workshops.

Are you coming to the festival and need information & tips about the city or perhaps accommodation? The Telegram app is very popular in Leipzig and in order to offer the Leipzig dance scene a platform for exchange, Tanzplattform-Leipzig has founded a Telegram group for dance professionals and dance enthusiasts. Following the success of the WORKSHOP FESTIVAL in 2022, the 4fT-Tanzplattform Leipzig e.V. is once again taking the initiative to organise a dance and performance festival and is launching the TANZFORUM. Here, too, the focus is on interdisciplinarity with the aim of creating encounters and exchanges between audience groups and artistic disciplines.
The TANZFORUM is a project of 4fT-Tanzplattform Leipzig e.V., in co-operation with the Residenz (Schauspiel Leipzig), you are warmly invited, LOFFT-DAS THEATER, Schaubühne Lindenfels, TanzNetzDresden and HEIZHAUS Leipzig, supported by the Cultural Office of the City of Leipzig, the Leipzig Foundation and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament.
